<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk roll without damaging the surface of an object to be conveyed, and also without generating a disk separation and a crack even when rapidly cooled. <P>SOLUTION: A base material for a disk is produced by molding a slurry raw material containing inorganic fibers, an inorganic filler having an aspect ratio of 1 to 25 and an inorganic binder into a plate shape, and drying the molded plate. A disk material is made by striking the base material for the disk in a ring shape.
