<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an artifact due to a member for fixing a living body concerning a bone assessment device using ultrasonic propagation speed. <P>SOLUTION: A device for performing bone assessment, based on the speed of ultrasonic waves to be propagated in a heel bone, by arranging ultrasonic vibrators to the right and left of a foot F includes a foot placement base 14 for fixing the foot F, where a groove 58 is arranged. The groove 58 is arranged by extension to cross with an ultrasonic propagation direction, and is opened in a surface on which the foot F is placed.
