Disclosed is a transmitting apparatus wherein a first interface board is provided with a first signal processing unit that performs predetermined processing to signals, and a second interface board is provided with a second signal processing unit that performs predetermined processing to the signals. A switch control unit selects the first interface board when a failure is not generated in any one of the interface boards, and selects the second interface board when a failure is generated in the first interface board. A power supply control unit makes power supplied to the first interface board and inhibits power supply to the second interface board when the first interface board does not satisfy predetermined deterioration conditions in a state wherein no failure is generated in any one of the interface boards, and the power supply control unit controls to supply power to both the interface boards when the predetermined deterioration conditions are met.
