<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in particular, a method for manufacturing an optical transmission member capable of holding a predetermined bent shape and increasing a light amount emitted from a side surface at the same process. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing an optical transmission member, bent linear optical transmission member with light emitted from the side surface is heated and pressurized using a molding tool with projections and depressions in at least a part of the surface of the molding tool. The molding tool is a mold with a groove for housing the bent linear optical transmission member. Thus, while the optical transmission member is held in a predetermined bent shape, the projections and depressions is formed on the surface of the optical transmission member. A light amount emitted from the side surface increases because light is emitted from the projections and depressions of the surface. Accordingly, it is possible to hold the predetermined bent shape of the optical transmission member and increase the light amount emitted from the side surface at the same process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
