<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter capable of appropriately protecting a power amplifier against a reflection wave and restraining unnecessary spurious radiation and a method of controlling the same. <P>SOLUTION: A transmitter related to the invention includes a baseband signal generator 2, a local oscillator 7, a modulator 3 for generating a modulation signal 51 by multiplying a baseband signal by a carrier signal including a local oscillation frequency, a power amplifier 4 for amplifying the modulation signal 51, a filter 5 which has a pass bandwidth narrower than a frequency band which can be configured or appear in the local oscillator 7 and which removes at least some of unwanted components which occur accompanying the amplified modulation signal, and a frequency band internal/external determination unit 16 for determining that the local oscillation frequency is out of a predetermined band. If the frequency band internal/external determination unit 16 determines that the local oscillation frequency is out of the predetermined band, the baseband generator 2 or the local oscillator 7 is controlled to reduce the modulation signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
