Disclosed is an electrode substrate for a liquid crystal display device, which is configured by forming a black matrix, a transparent conductive film, and a resin layer on a transparent substrate, wherein: the black matrix has a plurality of openings, and is formed from a light-shielding layer in which light-shielding pigments are dispersed throughout a resin; and the resin layer is formed on the transparent substrate which is provided with the black matrix and the transparent conductive film, and forms a convex section above the black matrix and a concave section on the region which passes through the center of the openings of the black matrix.
