The device (10) has a pinion (12) for rotating a pressing plate relative to a counter plate over a ramp system for axial displacement of the pressing plate relative to the counter plate. Two pawls (18, 20) engage at a periphery part of the pinion for rotating the pinion. The pinion comprises two partial pinions (14, 16) that are assigned to the two pawls, where a gear of one of the partial pinions is displaceably arranged on a gear of the other partial pinion in a circumferential direction. The partial pinions are designed as separate parts and connected with a common shaft.
