<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus capable of reducing electric power consumption while maintaining a display image quality when a video display is carried out by means of a light source for performing a partial light emitting operation. <P>SOLUTION: A partial drive processing unit 42 calculates a maximum pixel value (block maximum pixel value D2max) in a pixel region unit corresponding to a partial light emitting region 36 based on a video signal D1, and an average pixel value (block average pixel value D2ave) in the pixel region unit corresponding to the partial light emitting region 36, respectively. The partial drive processing unit 42 generates a light emitting pattern signal BL1 and a partial driving video signal D4 based on the block maximum pixel value D2max and the block average pixel value D2ave. With hardly causing sense of incongruity in the display image quality, luminance of light emission can be reduced in the partial light emitting region 36. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
