The watch-winder (1) has a watch carrier (40) for holding a watch, and a drive for moving the watch. A controller (10) controls the drive, and a data line is provided between the controller and the watch carrier and/or the watch. The controller communicates with the watch carrier and/or the watch by the data line. The data line comprises an antenna (20) for reading radio frequency identification (RFID) transponders (30), and information about the watch is stored in radio frequency identification transponders. The carrier comprises a shield. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a drive of a watch-winder.
