A level shifter which converts an input pulse signal of a low voltage amplitude to high voltage amplitude is provided with a low voltage circuit (10) which generates a complementary pulse signal of the low voltage amplitude from the input pulse signal and a high voltage circuit (20) which generates a pulse signal of the high voltage amplitude on the basis of the complementary pulse signal. The low voltage circuit (10) is configured with high threshold voltage transistors, and comprises a plurality of cascaded inverter circuits (11) and at least one resistive-switch circuit (12) which is connected between input and output of at least one of the plurality of inverter circuits (11) and which operates as a resistor when energized.
