<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anchoring device, such as a suture, that includes a loop having barbs disposed along a surface. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a system for securing tissue, including a suture 2 having a proximal portion, an elongate body 10, and a distal portion of the suture 2 terminating in a loop 14 and at least a portion of the loop 14 including a plurality of barbs 18, the suture including a pledget disposed about the elongate body 10 adjacent a proximal portion of the loop; inserting the proximal portion of the suture into tissue at a penetration point; advancing the suture through the tissue such that the elongate body is pulled through the penetration point to the pledget; and securing the suture in the tissue. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
