<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, image processing method and computer program capable of detecting even a defect near a contour line and performing product quality assessment with high accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: Edge strengths in two different directions are calculated in each pixel of a first multi-value image acquired, and the average of the edge strengths in two different directions is calculated in each pixel of the first multi-value image. A cross-correlation distribution area of edge strengths in two different directions is calculated for each pixel of the first multi-value image with the average as a center. Edge strengths in two different directions are calculated in each pixel of a second multi-value image concerning a subject of assessment, and it is determined whether the calculated edge strengths in each pixel of the second multi-value image are contained in the cross-correlation distribution area calculated for each pixel of the first multi-value image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
