The device has an output shaft (1) arranged on switching elements i.e. toothed disks (6-8), that are mutually adjustable relative to an axis of the shaft. The switching elements are frontally provided with teeth (13, 19, 33-36) i.e. flat spur gear teeth or bevel gear teeth, and are in a set position in engagement with each other. A tooth element is secured against springing back by a closure element in a closure position. A thrust piece comprises a guide part cooperating with a link guide of the output shaft.
