The system (1) has a scavenging air spacer (2) connected with a suction tube (3) with a cylinder head cover (4), where the spacer is connected with the suction tube in a flow direction after an air filter (5) and before a butterfly valve (6) that is arranged in the suction tube. An adjustable choke (7) is arranged in the spacer. An adjustment device i.e. pneumatic cylinder, of the choke is connected with the suction tube by a control line (9). The adjustment device and a resetting device e.g. spring and/or elastomer, are assigned to a closure unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a scavenging air supply into a housing of an internal combustion engine.
