<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alarm device capable of easily attaching/detaching an operating cord from the alarm device, capable of performing an inspection operation by using any of an operation button and the operating cord, and capable of preventing a malfunction due to a contact from the exterior. <P>SOLUTION: An alarm device 1 comprises: a smoke detection unit 20; a housing 10 for accommodating the smoke detection unit 20; an inspection switch 54 disposed in the housing 10 and to be pressed in a desired direction; and an operating member 60 having an operation unit 61 which abuts on the inspection switch 54. The operating member 60 is formed as a string-shaped body and comprises a fixed end 71. A retaining part 62 comprises a slit 62a for retaining the fixed end 71.
