<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanium oxide particles capable of exhibiting non-conventional new material properties, a process for producing the particles, and a magnetic memory, an optical information recording medium, and a charge storage memory formed, by using the particles. <P>SOLUTION: Titanium hydroxide compound particles coated with silica are directly produced by a sol-gel method without using a reverse micelle method, and the silica-coated titanium hydroxide compound particles are burned. By the production process, it is possible to provide titanium oxide particles 1 capable of exhibiting non-conventional new material properties which enable Ti<SB POS="POST">3</SB>O<SB POS="POST">5</SB>particles themselves to always retain the nature of a paramagnetic metal throughout the whole temperature range without undergoing the phase transition at room temperature, unlike conventional bulk materials that undergo phase transitions between a non-magnetic semiconductor and a paramagnetic metal at about 460K. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
