<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color display device that has a good design property so that display is clearly visible when it is lit, although a display section is not visible when it is not lit, makes display with good visibility, and has a good balance between displayed colors. <P>SOLUTION: A color display device includes a light emission type electronic display device which is so configured that a plurality of sub-dots with different colors are arranged periodically on a line, and a cover for covering a display surface of the light emission type electronic display device. The cover is provided with a light shading section for covering the display surface, and the light shading section is provided with a light transmitting section for partially transmitting light.
