<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component designing method, a structure manufacturing method, and a computer program that allow efficient designing of a cross-sectional shape of a component that realizes desired bending strength and mass. <P>SOLUTION: The component designing method comprises the steps of: calculating the relations between sectional shapes and bending strength of a component 1; calculating the relations between the sectional shapes and the mass of the component 1; designing the sectional shape of the component 1 based on the relations between the sectional shapes and the bending strength of the component 1 and the relations between the sectional shapes and the mass of the component 1.
