The pipette is provided with a tubular cylinder holder at the back end of a cylinder, the base of a pipette tip is fitted on the front end of the cylinder, a piston is incorporated in the cylinder chamber, a piston-operating rod is provided on the back end of the piston, and the piston-operating rod protrudes from the back end of the cylinder holder. The pipette draws liquid into the pipette tip by retraction of the piston when it has been advanced by operation of the piston-operating rod. Outside the cylinder is fitted a release tube, the front end of which contacts the base of the pipette tip and is for pushing the pipette tip off the front end of the cylinder. Release pieces are provided on the piston-operating rod that protrude from guide slots provided in the cylinder holder to the outside of the cylinder holder and which move when the piston-operating rod moves. When movement of the piston-operating rod in the forward direction exceeds a prescribed distance, the release pieces contact the base end of the release tube and push off the pipette tip fitted on the front end of the cylinder via the release tube. |
