The connector has a partial assembly (10) comprising a contact region (30) for retaining a conductor end and for production of electrical contact with the conductor end. A clamping device (50) clamps the conductor end in the contact region. Another partial assembly (20) comprises a hollow body (60) with a cavity (70) for retaining the contact region. The partial assemblies release the clamping device for manual clamping of the conductor end in an opened condition and electrically insulate the contact region and the clamping device in a closed condition.
