PURPOSE: A single line type asynchronous communication method and an apparatus are provided to determine the reference time of a transmission device and a receiver whenever communications is performed. CONSTITUTION: In a single line type asynchronous communication method and an apparatus, a reference time analyzing unit(38) calculates an error between a high reference time and a low reference time. If a calculated error is arranged in a predetermined allowable error range, the reference time analysis unit determines a final reference time based on the high reference time and a low reference time. The base time analysis unit decides communications begin. An interface unit(30) performs data communication according to the determination of the communication begin.
