A quick release hub assembly (130) has a stationary axle element (144) having a first outer face (146a), an axially opposed second outer face (146b), an opening (148a) extending between the two outer faces, a rotatable hub shell element (14) and a quick release skewer assembly (134) including at least one skewer element (162, 158) with a gripping face (168, 178) and a collar portion (165, 179) extending axially inboard of the gripping faces. A skewer shaft (152) connects the first skewer element and the second skewer element. The two gripping faces are axially opposed and their axial distance is selectively variable. The two gripping faces are outboard the two outer faces and the quick release skewer assembly extends through the opening. At least one, preferably both, of the skewer elements is/are connected to the skewer shaft at a location axially inboard of the corresponding gripping face. Each collar portion (165, 179) may include locating geometry to provide radial positioning alignment with a corresponding mounting (36a, 36b) portion of a frame element (32a, 32b). |
