Servo-assisted steering device for vehicles, composed of a manual control member (11), which control member (11) is connected to a pump (13) for manually driving it when the control member (11) is rotated. The pump is connected with its delivery and suction side to one of the two chambers respectively (16,17) of one or more steering actuators (18), by means of hydraulic pipes (14), for feeding a pressurized fluid alternately to either one or the other of said two chambers (16,17) of the actuator (18) or actuators depending on the moving direction, in particular the rotation of the control member (11).
There being further provided assist control means (2) for the steering actuators, composed of at least an hydraulic fluid tank (21) and automatic powered pumping means (22) which are driven by an electric motor (23) and which are driven and connected to the hydraulic pipes when the steering wheel (11) is operated, which automatic pumping means, by increasing the amount of pumped fluid, increase the pressure exerted by the manual pumping means (13) in order to reduce the resistance when steering the manual control means.
There are further provided means for adjusting the number of revolutions of the motor (23) driving said automatic pumping means (22) which control and/or modify the number of revolutions of the driving motor (23).
