The invention relates to a sailboat having a hull, a mast, a keel, characterised in that the sailboat is provided with an electric motor driven propeller, and the keel comprises an inner cavity wherein at least one battery is sealed off, and the battery is electronically connected to the electric motor. The invention further relates to such a keel for housing at least one battery.
