<p>A light-emitting device with reduced size and improved light use efficiency is implemented. A reflective conductive material film (5) is formed as a trigger electrode on the outer peripheral surface of a glass valve (2) of a discharge tube (1). The reflective trigger electrode film (5) is formed so as to cover most of the periphery of the glass valve. The reflective trigger electrode film comprises a thin linear light emission opening (6) and illumination light is emitted to the outside through the light emission opening. The illumination light generated by a light-emitting action is emitted directly to the outside through the light emission opening, and also multiply-reflected through the reflective trigger electrode film and emitted to the outside. The light-emitting device with high light use efficiency can be implemented by the multiple reflection action of the reflective trigger electrode film and the diverging light suppressing effect of the thin linear light emission opening.</p> |
