<p>An object of the present invention is to provide a honeycomb structured body having a high PM capture efficiency and a high breaking strength. The honeycomb structured body of the present invention comprises aluminum titanate, wherein a plurality of cells are formed in the longitudinal direction with cell walls interposed therebetween; a porosity is 40 to 60%; and in a binary image consisting of substrate portions and pore portions, an area ratio (%) of the pore portions to the whole area in each rectangularly-divided image is in the range from (the porosity - 25%) to (the porosity + 25%), wherein the binary image is converted from a microscopic image of a cross section of the cell wall in parallel with the longitudinal direction, and the rectangularly-divided image is formed by dividing the binary image in the direction parallel to a thickness direction of the cell wall at a predetermined width.</p> |
