PURPOSE: An engine starting device is provided to prevent the damage of an engine starting device even if a timer circuit does not normally operate with any reason. CONSTITUTION: An engine starting device comprises a starter switch(5), a resistance and a short circuit switch(7) and a timer circuit(8). The starter switch is serially connected between the power source and start motor. The resistance is serially connected in the starter switch. The short circuit switch short-circuits the resistance. The timer circuit controls the switching of the short circuit switch. The controlled current is electrified with the start motor through the starter switch and resistance from the power source after closing the starter switch. After the starter switch is shut, the short circuit switch is closed after the delay time progress and the resistance is short-circuited.
