PURPOSE: An agent containing crude drug ingredient extract is provided to effectively prevent alopecia and promoting hair growth. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing alopecia and promoting hair growth contains 5-20 wt% of Chrysanthemi Flos, 5-20 wt% of Viticis Fructus, 5-20 wt% of Cnidii Rhizoma, 5-20 wt% of Angelicae dahuricae Radix, 5-20 wt% of Asiasari Radix, 5-20 wt% of Mori Radicis Cortex, 5-20 wt% of Ecliptae Herba, 5-20 wt% of red ginseng, 5-20 wt% of Polygoni multiflori Radix, 5-20 wt% of Angelicae gigantis Radix, and 5-20 wt% of Rhei Rhizoma. A method for preparing the composition comprises: a step of extracting the herb materials with 2-20 times weight of mixture solvent of purified water, ethanol, propanol, and butanol; a step of extracting the crude drug ingredient at room temperature-100°C for 2 or more hours; a step of performing pressing/filtering, heating, and vacuum-concentration; and a step of adding 0.1-5 wt% of methyl sulfonyl methanol at room temperature. The composition is manufactured in the form of liquid, spray, lotion, cream, or ointment.
