Disclosed is a polypeptide comprising a non-human animal IGF-1 precursor protein, wherein: (i) one or more of the following precursor protein residues is modified by deletion or mutation: G1, P2, E3, R36 and R37; and (ii) the cleavage of the E-peptide from IGF-1 by a protease is reduced by said modification of the precursor protein. |
