PURPOSE: A method and device for setting a data transmission mode are provided to set a data transmission mode according to a bidirectional communication or a single direction communication. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(810) performs initial connection with a receiver side electric field communication device. The control unit performs the transceiving synchronization and the receiving side electric field communication device. The control unit determines one transmission mode between bidirectional communication or a single directional communication according to the type of transmission data. The control unit sets one among the bit values of a information frame which is transmitted according to the determined transmission mode as a value corresponding to the determined transmission mode.
