PURPOSE: A method for restricting a spam SMS using a sending number inquiry is provided to discharge a SMS message to a receiver without automatically restricting a spam SMS message if it is not existing number by inquiring a sending number in a SMSC. CONSTITUTION: A service network NPS(30) calls back a sending number response according to requesting sending number inquiry form a service network SMSC(Short Message Service Center)(20). The service network SMSC transmits an SMS to a receiving number gateway switch(70) if the sending number exists according to the sending number response. A receiving number HRL(Home Location Register)(80) calls back a receiving subscriber inquiry response according to the receiver subscriber inquiry request from the receiving number gateway exchanger. The receiving number gateway exchanger transmits the SMS to a receiving terminal through a receiving exchanger.
