Disclosed is an isolated or recombinant nucleic acid molecule selected from the group consisting of: a) a nucleic acid molecule comprising the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, 3, or 5, or a complement thereof; b) a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence having at least 80% sequence identity to the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, 3, or 5, or a complement thereof, wherein the polypeptide encoded by said nucleic acid molecule has glyphosate resistance activity; c) the herbicide resistance nucleotide sequence of the DNA insert of the plasmid deposited as Accession No. NRRL B-30888 or B-30949, or a complement thereof; d) a nucleic acid molecule which encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2, 4, or 6; and, e) a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide having at least 80% amino acid sequence identity to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2, 4, or 6, wherein said polypeptide has glyphosate resistance activity. Also disclosed is a method for conferring glyphosate resistance in a plant, said method comprising transforming said plant with a DNA construct, said construct comprising a promoter that drives expression in a plant cell operably linked with a nucleotide sequence at least 80% identical to the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, 3, or 5, and regenerating a transformed plant.
