An applicator (100) for the application of an apportioned amount of a liquid or pasty media is disclosed. The applicator (100) comprises a housing (10) which receives a dosing unit and an adapter. The adapter allows fastening a container (14) containing the medium to be applied to the applicator (100). There is a lever (1) that interacts mechanically with the dosing unit and a dose setting means (2, 16) for application of the measured amount of medium. The lever (1) is mounted moveably at its proximal end within the housing (10). In a state ready for application, the distal end (22) of the lever (1) is spaced apart a distance from the housing (10) and this distance is dependent on the dose set by the dose setting means (2, 16).
