ARC FLASH DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved arc flash prevention mechanism for improving a response time and minimizing a false alert.

SOLUTION: There is presented a sensor for simultaneously detecting light and an acoustic wave. The sensor includes: one or a plurality of optical fibers; and a barrier disposed close to one end of the one or at least one of the plurality of optical fibers. The barrier is configured to oscillate if an acoustic wave enters from an arc flash and to reflect a light beam into the one or the at least one of the plurality of optical fibers. Around the one or the plurality of optical fibers, there is disposed a translucent region for diffusing light emitted from the arc flash into the one or the at least one of the plurality of optical fibers.
