<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering control engine for vehicle, by determining exactly that backup clutch has been actually engaged despite fluctuations of clutch engagement times, capable of shifting to a smooth handle operating mode immediately after actual engagement. <P>SOLUTION: A steering control engine for vehicle includes a steering mechanism mechanically separated from a steering handle, for turning right and left front wheels in response to an operation state of a steering handle, a backup clutch for mechanically coupling the steering handle and the steering mechanism by engagement with each other, a clutch engagement instruction means for outputting engagement commands to the backup clutch when an engagement condition of the backup clutch holds in an open state of the backup clutch (step S104), and a clutch engagement determination means for determining that the backup clutch has become an engagement state when a torque increase of the steering handle is detected after the engagement command has been output to the backup clutch (step S105). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
