<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent density unevenness in a longitudinal direction of a belt body by preventing an object from being sandwiched between the belt body such as an intermediate transfer belt or a recording material delivery belt and a sheet member. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a movable belt body 16 onto which a toner image is transferred from an image carrier 1 or carrying a recording material P onto which the toner image is transferred, and a sheet member 20a contacting the belt body 16 from opposite to the image carrier 1. The sheet material 20a is biased so that the toner image is transferred onto the belt body 16 from a surface of the image carrier 1 or onto the recording material P delivered by the belt body 16. After completing image formation, the belt body 16 is moved in a direction opposite to a direction of travel of the belt body 16 during the image formation by a distance greater than at least a contact width between the sheet material 20a and the belt body 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
