Disclosed is a method that can reduce the production of substances adhering to the inner walls of reaction vessels, pipes, and the like without impairing the recovery rate of nickel, and that can reduce the frequency of performing operations to remove substances adhering to the inner walls as compared to conventional techniques. In the disclosed method for controlling the reaction in a sulfuration reaction step, which involves the blowing of hydrogen sulfide gas into a sulfate-salt solution containing at least nickel and the production of a nickel-containing sulfide and a barren solution, the reaction temperature of the sulfuration reaction is controlled to be 60-70°C, and the pressure within the reaction vessel used for the sulfuration reaction is controlled to be 200-300 kPaG.
