A method and an apparatus for sending messages, disclosed by the embodiments of the invention, relate to the technical field of communications and are invented for reducing the service delay. The method for sending messages includes: receiving an instant message sent from a terminal when the terminal is in the data service dormancy state (11); determining the size of the instant message (12); and sending the instant message of the terminal through a signaling channel when the size of the instant message is smaller than the preset byte (13). The embodiments of the invention are mainly used in value-added services. |
