METHOD FOR SPECIFYING DENTAL BACTERIUM RELEVANT TO DENTAL CARIES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparing criteria for evaluating risk of dental caries, and a method of providing information for evaluating the risk of dental caries.

SOLUTION: The method of specifying dental bacteria relevant to the dental caries includes: collecting dental plaque formed in vivo from both a group including subjects having frequent dental caries and a group including subjects without dental caries; extracting DNA of bacteria included in bacterial floras in the collected dental plaque; analyzing the extracted DNA by a T-RFLP method; comparing positions and areas of peaks obtained as the result of the analysis between the group including subjects with frequent dental caries and the group of subjects without dental caries; and recording the position and the area of the peak characteristic of the group including subjects with frequent dental caries.
