<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desulfurizing flux having high desulfurization capability without containing CaF<SB POS="POST">2</SB>. <P>SOLUTION: The mineral-containing desulfurizing flux for molten steel contains one or more of nephelite and nepheline syenite in an amount of 5 to 40 mass%, wherein the balance excluding an inevitable component is composed of CaO and Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, and the formulation index Z defined by the following formula is 1.4 to 2.5: formulation index Z=[CaO]/([Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>]+0.55[NE]), wherein [CaO] denotes mass% of CaO; [Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>] denotes mass% of Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>; and [NE] is mass% of one or more of nephelite and nepheline syenite. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
