<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe medicine for treating nonalcoholic hepatic diseases, containing a substance universally present in a cell of a living body, or a physiologically active substance metabolizable to the substance as an active ingredient, hardly causing side effects, and enabling long-term administration. <P>SOLUTION: The medicine for treating the nonalcoholic hepatic diseases contains at least one of pyruvic acid, a pyruvic acid ester, a pyruvic acid amide and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient for treating the hepatic diseases selected from nonalcoholic fatty liver and steatohepatitis.
