<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing sulfur-containing carboxylic esters useful for imparting a flavor and a fragrance that satisfy a diversified demand for a perfumed product, a perfume composition comprising an ester manufactured by the manufacturing method, and a perfumed product. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the sulfur-containing carboxylic esters represented by formula (3) comprises causing an α, β-unsaturated carboxylic ester to react with a thiocarboxylic acid in the presence of an acid catalyst. In the formula, R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>is a 1-10C alkyl group or an optionally substituted phenyl group (wherein the substituent group is a 1-4C alkyl group or a 1-4C alkoxy group); R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl group, or a 2-10C alkenyl group, or are linked together to form an alkylene group; the wavy line represents either a cis-configuration or a trans-configuration; and R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>is a 1-4C alkyl group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
