FERRONICKEL-SMELTING METHOD USING WOODY PELLET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferronickel-smelting method using woody pellets which substitutes woody pellets for part of coal to be charged into a rotary kiln in ferronickel smelting.

SOLUTION: The ferronickel-smelting method includes: a step in which a nickel oxide ore is burned in a rotary kiln; and a step in which the calcined ore thus obtained is charged into an electric furnace to conduct reduction. When coal is charged from the raw material-charging opening of the rotary kiln and/or an intermediate part between the raw material-charging opening and the calcined ore-discharging opening in the burning step in the rotary kiln, woody pellets are used as a substitute for at least part of the coal.
