The present invention provides a method and a terminal for improving domain name resolution efficiency. The method is implemented in a terminal supporting Internet Protocol version 4/Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv4/IPv6) dual stack, and includes: the terminal initiates a domain name resolution request to a domain name system server (S11); when obtaining a normal response, the terminal records the first format corresponding to the present initiated domain name resolution request as the default initiation format of current domain name resolution requests (S12). The present invention plays a role of adapting network environments dynamically to a certain extent, and can raise the domain name request efficiency, thus improving the fluency for the whole service access.
