<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pump set for delivering fluids to a patient by way of a flow control apparatus, and more particularly, to provide a pump set having a safety interlock device for determining secure loading on the pump set on the flow control apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a safety interlock for use in a medical device having a control system, a source of electromagnetic radiation and an electromagnetic radiation detector. The safety interlock includes a central tubular portion, an outer ring portion and a spoked connector portion. The safety interlock is adapted for mounting in the medical device in a path of electromagnetic radiation from the source of electromagnetic radiation such that the central tubular portion reflects the electromagnetic radiation to the electromagnetic radiation detector when properly loaded on the medical device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
