<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption necessary for display while maintaining image quality, and to minimize loss of an important part of an image when the luminance of the image is lowered to reduce power consumption necessary for display. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing device for adjusting the luminance of an image output to a display unit comprises: division means for dividing an image in each frame into multiple areas; data amount calculation means for calculating, by each area, the amount of at least any of data related to luminosity distribution, the amount of characters and the amount of movement; and luminance adjustment means for adjusting the luminance of each area so that the luminance reduction rate of an area with less amount of data is higher than the luminance reduction rate of an area with more amount of data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
