<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a saccharification reaction promotor widely usable as the saccharification reaction promotor in the production of bioethanol from biomass, without reducing the decomposition capability of the biomass and having high preservation stability, and a method for producing sugars by using the saccharification promotor. <P>SOLUTION: This saccharification reaction promotor contains at least one kind of a compound (A) selected from the group consisting of a specific compound and its salts, (a) an enzyme, and water.
