<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an nonaqueous electrolyte and a lithium secondary battery using the nonaqueous electrolyte realizing a long life of the battery by achieving both of fire retardancy and charge-discharge cycle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A mixture, containing a cyclic carbonate, a chain carbonate, a first phosphate ester in which bonds of carbons are single bonds, and a second phosphate ester in which bonds of carbons contain a double bond, is used as the nonaqueous electrolyte.
