<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which data type can be identified without requring data decryption while preventing illegal copying of document data in a document data editing device which displays document data, and copies and manages some data through a user's operation. <P>SOLUTION: A document data editing device encrypts data when copying and managing some document data through a user's operation. In doing so, relevant information between the original document data and some copied document data is managed using a relevant information list that can be cross-referenced, and data type information on the document data is included in the information in a management list.
