[Class 89 (i)] Sheet metal nuts have a lateral aperture 20 to enable the nut to be applied laterally to a bolt without disturbing other elements that may already be assembled. The nut is of the type having twisted spring tongues 15 to engage the threads and the tongues on the gapped side are cut away at 27 to pass the root diameter of the bolt.
